Video Games Genre Open World

An open world video game is a game where there is one lever which is an open world where the player can freely roam the virtual world. For example Grand Theft Auto IV is one level and when it loads it loads the City of New York, a virtual world replica of new york but with many change and in that virtual world missions are available and to gain access to other parts of the city you have to compleate the missions.

Another term for open world video games is "Sandbox" or "Free-roaming" To create the open world there are see-through walls that stop the player from going beyond the created landscapes.

What i would expect from video games in 10 to 15 years time is that, for example a Grand Theft Auto game to have a 10 times bigger virtual world than it does now. For other open-world games like Red Dead Redemption, i would want it to have a huge country western city which is fully detailed with the different seasons and i would also Want Grand Theft Auto to have different seasons for example, for christmas in the game it would want it to look like the cities as it would look like at christmas, snow, lights trees etc.
